Super
Magic Bonus!
Breathe Deeply! Along with other harmful habits we pick up,
people learn to breathe in a shallow manner which starves our lungs of oxygen and forces
our heart to work extra hard to keep our blood filled with fresh supply. With lungs full of fresh air and not mostly stale
uncirculated air, the blood in the lungs absorbs the good stuff and gets rid of the bad
stuff easily. Breathe shallow and the blood
has to search for the fresh stuff and the heart has to pump poorly oxygenated blood to
your extremities over and over again with little benefit.
Breathe Deeply for the Ultimate
Healthy Heart!
Heart Healthy
Ultimate Physical Exercise
Heart- healthy exercise is a habit. If you dont exercise now, you need to interrupt your old habit (one that is slowly killing you) and replace it with a new heart- healthy habit that is fun and allows you to live a full 120 years.
Once youve established a regular pattern of heart- healthy exercise, it's easy to follow the new ultimate healthy pattern out of habit.
But how
do you get started?
Check in with a good earth-conscious doctor. Give him a brief description of your plan and get his approval or adapt your ultimate plan to his recommendation.
If you are a people person, pick some sport that you enjoyed as a child. Maybe you never actually played but secretly wanted to play. Start slowly, but work yourself into the game. Put your heart into the game.
Dancing is cool. (go to dancing page)
Tai Chi is smooth, slow, and easy on the joints for young or old. It helps teach balance, gets the juices flowing in the body, and reduces stress.
If you are a robust person and want to give your healthy heart a real workout, consider basketball, soccer, or karate.
You dont have to be a super athlete. You will get better and all the while youll make others happy because youll make them look better. Just have fun and know what your objective is.
Running or jogging is good but be careful with those joints.
Mall walking is good because you can do it by yourself or with friends.
Swimming gives your heart a chance to beat in tune with the earth. Develop a relationship with the water. Be like water. It is never hard but always soft and flowing. It does not resist but adapts to everything around it. Pay attention to water. Bodies of water, even man-made pools have moods. Sometimes the water is friendly, sometimes it is angry. Listen to the earth through your contact with water.
Walking is great exercise and stress relief. Normal walking is actually a controlled fall. You lift your foot, lean forward until your balance shifts and you fall forward.
Tai Chi teaches you to keep your weight on your back foot until the forward foot tests the ground beneath. Once assured of a stable footing, then you shift your weight to the forward foot, then repeat the process.
Experience
the earth with your toes!
My Cherokee ancestors loved to take off their shoes and let the sand and earth sift through their toes. Our bodies come from the earth and will return to the earth. We walk upon the bones of our grandfathers. That is a good thingnot a bad thing. It must please them and our hearts when we think on these things and appreciate those who brought us into the world.
You ran barefoot naturally as a kid. Why did you stop? Your heart started to grow old and hard the moment your feet left the earth for the modern path of stress and competition. Recapture the ways of your childhood and recapture your heart healthy youth.
Dont move too fast. Learn about aerobics and calculate the proper heart rate for your age. Get a meter and get started. Know what your heart rate is, but dont be so concerned with it that you miss the joy and spontaneity which is as important to a healthy heart as the exercise itself.
Start with ten minutes a day, or whatever you have time for, and as the habit grows increase that until it is thirty minutes a day three or four times a week.
Get your aerobic habit developed into a heart healthy pattern. Then move on to anaerobic exercise. Weight lifting is beneficial to all ages even people in their nineties. In addition to a healthy heart, weight lifting has proven to reverse bone loss. Join a local gym, get a personal trainer, or check out www.bodyforlife.com
If you are not yet ready for a truly heart healthy lifestyle with aerobic and anaerobic programs, then at least adopt some of these suggestions. Maybe you can start with these and work your way into the more healthy robust programs.
At least
do some of these things for the sake of a healthy Heart!
Or do some of these things!
